yeah, lets use my truck for show and tell........we can burry it up to the floor boards and winch it out of big mud holes then hi-lift jack it up as high as it will go and push the release lever and watch it slam to the ground and count the bounces. i'm all for safety and while Barry has a great idea for a good day of fun, comrodery and Frontier frolic, the answer is NO!!!! bastards............................ biggrin.gif

i think i'd enjoy this.......... wink.gif

We don't actually need to get a vehicle "stuck" per say, nor do we really need to be on the trail to so most of the recovery simulations (and for the fisrt time practical, the more controlled the simulation the better).

Although being on a trail (or in a large play area, like the Reservation maybe?) would make for a more "real life" scenario.

Sounds like a good Beer Day excuse! laugh.gif
How about a handcuff, pepper spray and baton class too?
Good idea though! nexterra/thumbup.gif

Again, the object is to learn. Have to walk before you can run. I was thinking starting out in a dirt lot or something and then build up from there. I'm thinking "keep it simple".
Unless, of course, burying Brian's Fronty up to it's wheel wells in a deep mud hole and then winching it out is actually a possibilty. Heck I'd pay money just to see that... nexterra/kidding.gif

Here's a site that I found when I was learning about hi-lifts. It has a bunch of good information and I like that it's generally applicable.

Great book, lots of good info.

I got that book right after picking up my Pathfinder. I still go back and read it every once in a while.

Those both look like great references. However, are we agreed that this is a worthwhile idea to pursue come the warmer weather and have some real practice doing this stuff?

I think that would be a big YES! I will however bring the book this weekend for people to browse. nexterra/thumbup.gif

Time to start planning for this?

BARRY!!!

That's a GREAT idea....I'm ALL for it, no matter when or where!!!!!
(unless it's the 21st and 22nd of April, 19th and 20th of May or the 16th and 17th of June)

I think that, as a club, it's imperative that we all know certian things.
ESPECIALLY safety and recovery skills.

Agreed.
It's worth having a 101 class.
I have straps, tree-save, come-along and basic tools. We could show how to get things set up, how to use the equipment we have and highlight the reasons for good sense.

Being pretty new to off road driving myself I think this is a great idea. If/when this happens I would love to be there and learn some new techniques.
