OK...I'm a sucker for new things...especially when they help out our evil older cousin XOC...so I bought an AMSOIL air filter and use it to replace my K&N filter. Designwise its just a simple drop in airfilter that fits in the stock airbox just like the K&N. It does seem to fit better and tighter into the airbox I believe due to a lack of a steel perimeter like the K&N has...the AMSOIL filter's perimeter is a softer rubber that conforms more to the shape of the airbox and seems to make a tighter fit as well...performance wise I'll have to let you know but not having to worry about any oil perhaps moving down the airway is a bit of a relief and not needing to wash and reoil the filter is a bonus as well...saves a bit of work and money as I'll never have to buy a cleaning and reoiling kit again and it says it only needs to be cleaned either once a year or once every 25,000 miles which only involves blowing air through the filter and/or gently vaccuming the dirty side...anywho...that is all...here are the pics of it...

Hearing that makes me happy that I didn't toss out the old airbox....

Im about to hit 60k so I'm due for a new air filter...Is the only place to get these online, or do any stores stock amsoil stuff?

mike I have a guy down the street from me that can order amsoil products. I could find out how much he sells the filter for if you want.

I am also waiting on Carlton to provide a part number to a cone filter replacement for the K&N intake as well as any others that take the air temp sensor in the filter. Been about a month of him researching so far... so I dont know when it will happen.

Mike, you could always get the EaAU 3050 Air filter and drill a small hole in the backside of the filter to fit the Air temp sensor...
Or you could do what I did...

make a splash shield, and make a small hole and use a gasket (rubber test tube stopper drilled out and cut to size) to seal the deal.

Ohhh that is pretty slick Jeff. I may just try that when this filter is due for a cleaning. nexterra/thumbup.gif

Is this site supposed to give a discount? It looks like it brought me to the generic amsoil site with the $34.15 pricetag.

I purchased one of these and so far I have not been disappointed. I can't say I have got huge MPG or horse power increases, but I think it might have given me a extra MPG or 2.

No discount, the increased pricing goes to support XOC instead of your local store though
