I was going to post this in the pictures section but thought maybe this would be a better place. Just wanted to share in case anyone else was thinking of doing something like this. I'm gonna wire lights(when i get some) the same way.
I just got done pulling the whole side of my truck apart, but it was well worth it, and not all that difficult. i pulled the whole inside pass side apart from the rear seat area back, that was fun. I ran the Antena wire from under the pass seat, under the carpet, then kinda followed the factory harness on the pass side rear up into the cargo area, ran the wire up the rear in back of the side window, thats where the fun began. Pulled the pass side roof rack off. notice the pile of stuff under the air dam, some of it was still green from last weekend
Then was the hardest thing to do. drilled a hole right through the roof, making sure to put it in the spot where the rubber gasket under the roof mount had a hole, luckily for me there was dirt that showed me right where that was.
Then i drilled a hole through the plastic rack mount like this
Then i took the wire, poked it up through the roof and installed the little grommet
then took the roof rack and ran the wire into the bottom of the mount and out the hole. Making sure to seal up the wire good in the roof with silicone sealant first then tightend down the rack.
Attached the wire to the Antena and presto now all thats left to do is put it all back together, which wasnt to bad at all. I think it came out pretty good. It was a lot of work but in the end was well worth it.

Nice work my friend! It's good to see guys, and gals Jodi, taking a little extra time and effort into doing quality work. I see so much butcher work every day it makes me sick sometimes.

Glad you liked that set-up..
Looks good and makes me gotta get on the ball and run my wire into my roof like that...
You should also throw and Ez-over bit like I have so you can bend the antenna down if need be..
it's the third one up from the bottom of the left hand column...

I do have one, but didnt put it on. once i wired it up the little electrical connector they gave me with the antena (the one that attaches wire to the antena) broke when i was trying to tighten the antena and line it up so it would fold in the right direction. so.... i needed to put on a new connector and said screw it to the fold over for now, didnt feel like messing with it. I probably will put it on once i feel like mesing with it again.
Gene, If your gonna do something like this let me know, i would be more than willing to help out. We could do it at my place of employment (which has nice tall ceilings) Or anyone else who needs a hand for that matter. Now i know how it all comes apart inside, it will be a breeze to do it again.
thanks Gene for all the info you gave me, that helped out tremendously, I'm a pro now

Slick job. It looks fantastic. Did you have any problems getting the roof rack off? I can't even get my wind deflector off, the pressed in nuts just spin and I can't figure out a way to get them apart.

No problem with the rack at all. It is an '04 so everything so far has been pretty easy to dis-assemble. Hasnt had time to really lock together.
thanks for the words of praise everybody.

That's very cool... This is the first "hole in the roof" related post that I've really been able to put to use in my head. I'd like to put some lights up on the roof and getting a crossbar and some mighty mounts seems fine for the lighting. But the wiring is always what freaks me out.... Seeing how you got into the cab seems like the way to go for that too..... I just wasn't sure if there was any pre-existing entry point on the roof form the rack mount point or if you had to drill. But you answered that for me... Thanks for the pics. Mine's an 04 too...I'll probably wait until the spring to do it if I can get the nerve up to try it myself...
