Hey folks. Maybe some of you who have hooked up lights can help me with this.

I have all the wiring done for two Hella 500's as per the directions for the installation w/switch. I would like for the lights to work independantly of the headlights if that's possible. There's one wire left over and it goes from the switch that is on the dashboard to the high beam switch??? I don't know where this switch is or how to hook a wire to it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am about to take a hammer to the whole set up

The "hot" wire that they say to tap into the headlights can go to any power source. You could hook it up to you lighter wire; that way they would go on any time the key is on. I wired mine to the parking lights. You can also do it the cheater way and hook it into the hot leg of a fuse in the underdash fuse box. The only precaution is you should ad and in-line fuse for the wire so it is protected, if you don't have one, you can do that for now.

That wire does not draw much power, it only powers the relay, which inturn has the wire from the battery to the lights.

I knew I could count on someone from here to help out. I ended up putting the green wire onto the mirror fuse. It works like a charm! Thanks for the assistance.
