I have my pistion facing the opposite way. works fine though:

in reality mounting the shock either way works and it doesn't matter (much) that the shock boot is on one side or the other.

Altough having the shock boot to the passenger side means less mass movement being involved with steering - meaning slightly (probably insignificant) more stress on the compenents involved in the steering system...

But if you are wheeling your X (which is why you'd want one to begin with) then that really isn't going to matter at all...

Brainiax - nice shiny and clean parts under your steering in your pic.
Did you paint the rubber caps on your centerlink red, or did you replace them?
And are those aftermarket bumpstops and steering stops on your X? Or did you paint those red too????

no paint. i replaced all the TRE dust caps with energy suspension urethane caps. the stabilizer bushings are all ES parts too. BTW, i have a Frontier, not to be confused with its brother the Xterra..... wink.gif
