So I am trying to decide if I am going to register the xterra in NH. What does it normally cost to register and inspect and is the insurance high?

The registration cost is based on a depreciated value of your vehicle. For ex: my first reg fee when I bought my xterra new was $450, the next year it was like $350 and so on. Yours should be around $150 (including town reg fee) or less now. Then $35-$45 for the inspection. Insurance is not run by the state so you have many options with that, I had a few surcharges due to an accident and one lousy f-in 3 point against my license U trun So my insurance cost was nuts. I actually saved more money by moving to Mass than I did by switching to Geico...lol

The other thing you want to think hard about is in NH there is no "no fault" or split fault accident. If there is an accident one person involved will be at fault, it is up to the insurance Co to decide who. I was screwed by this and it cost me well over a few grand in insurance surcharges. Thanks and damn it i didnt know NH was a no fault state... florida is that way and I want out of it.. maybe i will keep it registered in maine...

only downfall to maine is their laws with tires, it has changed alot

also NH is not a "no fault" state. theres always someone to blame in an accident there.

Insurace rates are good as long as you don't live in Manchester which has the highest rates in the state.

After college I bought my house and moved out of Manchester. My rate went down $1000 for the year.
