Welcome to the NEXterra club. nexterra/wave.gif We are glad that you have found us, and want to become a member of our community.

Please take a moment and Introduce yourself with a post. Give us a little background about you and where you are from, your X, your hobbies, and whatever else comes to mind. If you like, you can share some Pictures of Your Xterra, if you don't have an image hosting site, you can sign up for one for free. Popular sites that are used here include Photobucket, Picturetrail, Imagebucket, and Villagephotos, amongst others.

If you are new to wheeling, I suggest taking a quick read of The Wheeling Info Thread for some very good info about wheeling, and then the Member's Spec thread and take a look at the equipment that people carry with them. This will give you an idea of some of the equipment you might want to start accumulating for trail runs, or other events. Also take a peek every so often for a Upcoming event, such as a Meet and Greet, Event, Mod Day, or Trail run near you so you can meet with some other Xterra owners who can show you the ropes, and help you become comfortable on the trails or with modifying your X.

Also take a look around the Technical Discussion forum to get some information on installing various parts, or different mods you can do to your X, or even just how to do some not-necessarily basic maintenance. Plus if you ever need a spare part, someone might already have what you need. Take a look here before picking up parts at the Dealership.

For that matter, keep an eye on the For Sale/Wanted section for parts people want to get, or get rid of, as well as awesome deals people come across on the net. If you find one, feel free to share.

It's common for new members to be excited and anxious to go wheeling, and it might be tempting to start posting info about trails you have been on, or to ask where trails are located. We ask that you please do not post any trail information on the board, and that you don't expect members to give out any of that information either, even in a Private Message (PM) or through email. There are a few good reasons for this:
1)There are a lot of people who don't wheel responsibly, and who will litter on a trail or damage the trail by misuse, and until we've actually had a chance to meet you, we just won't know for sure that you aren't one of those people.
2) Some people may take that info and hit the trails alone - and this can be dangerous for you, your vehicle, and the trail system as well.
3) There are some trails which have illegal side trails that have been created by those abusive wheelers mentioned in #1, and if you aren't familiar with the area you could end up on one of those illegal trails by accident. Since many illegal trails are monitored, and tickets can be issued for illegal wheeling, this not only protects the club from potential legal action, but also protects you as well.
4) Wheeling with a group of people who are familiar with the obstacles and area means you'll have a better, more enjoyable time, and be less likely to damage your Vehicle.

The Officers and current membership of NEXterra welcome you, and we hope to see you at an event soon. Until then, we'll see you on the message board!
