Hello, i'm hopeing to see if anyone will be willing to Trade me there SLR shackles with my AC shackles?? the Shackles i have are way to long combine with the springs. I've got aobut a 5.5 Inch's in the rear... sad.gif the Front of the truck is about 38 1/2 inches from the ground and the rear's 40 1/4- 1/2.. around there. So i need a smaller shackle so there won;t be a big Difference.....

Please let me know as soon as possible. thanks..

What's the measurement from bolt eye to bolt eye on the shackle -

Just wondering if my Calmini shackles are the same length or if they are shorter...

saltus440- 03-24-2008
If I am not mistaken the AC shackles are 8 inches eye-eye so the calmini shackles should work since I believe they are 6 inches eye-eye

If that's the case, I'm willing to do that trade.
I'll measure my Calmini's tomorrow and double check the length.

I don't mean to be to picky but I kinda wanted slr's. if I can't find some then I'll think about the calminis

thanks jeff

Damn sorry Derek, I already got rid of mine nexterra/eusa_doh.gif

The calmini will pretty much put you 1/2" lower than the AC, so it will pretty much still be the same.

Derek are you taking into consideration the new rears settleing with the weight of the truck over time. you may loose an inch or so from that alone. + weight of a tire carrier, bumper, wheeling gear ect.

inurteeth2- 03-24-2008
Yea... i'm thinking about that now.. sad.gif i did tell him i was gonna get a rear tire carrier.... I wonder how much does one go for... rolleyes.gif ....

But i think i'm going to try and see about the SLR's.. If theres a difference that i like and they work better, then i'll trade my AC for the SLR's.. we'll have to see. I have pics... but only the ones on my cam-phone..

heres a teaser..

Here you see where my axle was..

and where it's gonna be. biggrin.gif

Near side of picture of the picture is where it is now, far side you can see the gap.

Could you just use stock shackles and see if it starts to settle?

bass4runner- 03-24-2008
Derek remember 1" of shackel = 1/2" of total lift or drop.
and the spring settleing is 1-1/1/2" of the total lift = spring height=1 1/2 to 2" of shackle length.
Another thing is that you need enough shackle to move when the spring is @ compressed length = overall length of spring eyelet to eyelet not at droop length eyelet to eyelet.
Did you pick up a longer rear brake line too?
Looks Cool Derek cool.gif it will give Gene a run for his money biggrin.gif

Rockaholic- 03-24-2008
Along with a longer brake line - you are going to want to disconnect your ABS line (up near the crossmember) and then bring the ABS line over your e-brake cable - otherwise you might find on full droop that the ABS line is being streched because of it being under the Brake cable...
