Ok here's my story I have lived all over the US, England and Japan and have been to over 25 countries until settling in Mass
I have been into outdoor sport's for my whole life. I have raced BMX, MT Bikes, moto bikes, avid in rock climbing, kayaking, surfing, diving ect. Now I have had some bad tumbles, a few dislocations, 2 concussion, one broken wrist (11 years old) and more scrapes and bruises than I can remember. That was the first 29 years.
Since I moved to Mass in Aug 02 I have had the following happen.
02 Broken scapula my hand = surgery with screw 03 broken mettatarcel right foot = bone healed crooked 06 2 herneiated disk one disk torn = bad back and nerve damage to siatic 08 broken elbow = surgery with screw and wire
Today I twisted my knee = torn meniscus
Out side of meeting My wife and wheeling with you guys the last five almost six years have been absolute hell on my body and mental state. I am getting very tired of being hurt and not doing the things I love and enjoy.
The positive side of things are:
Great Wife and son Good home loan getting Xterra meeting you guys
Guess life is not so bad after all
Thanks for letting me vent.

Oh man Clay that sucks I just had surgery on my knee for that too I know it sucks to have to slow down and be caucious about everything that you do bottom line getting old sucks you can move heavy things all day and then move the wrong way getting out of your car and it's off to the hospital. My wife tells me it is my lifestyle finally catching up to me But it does make some sence when I look back on all my close calls It sounds like the same for you too. I hope the knee and your elbow heal well. P.S. Mass is a pretty rough state to live in Ernie

Clay, sorry to hear about your string of bad luck. I can attest to the being injured all the time. Maybe you should take up knitting?
Go out, get dirty, have a Coke and a smile.
Ernie- I hope what your wife says isn't true about everyone... I'll be dead in no time.

Hmmm....
I must say I concur, but for different reasons. Without getting into all the details, MA. sucks and I was born and raised here. I would love to find a place in N.H.
How can you deny a state motto of "Live free or die"!
We all know that term is from revolutionary times but so is "taxation without representation", yet we pay on blind faith and poor representation at best, today. Please forgive the rant "my fellow Americans".....

Clay! Take care of that knee!!! Sorry you've had a rough time! You're an awesome and active guy, so naturally, you're out doing things.....and you've get bitten every now and then. I have no advice, except, BE MORE CAREFUL!
I grew up in MA, and turned out ok....but I have been living in PA for an hour and a half and am happier than EVER!!!! Maybe there IS something to the MA theory!!!

Caly sorry to hear about the knee brother, but I hope it goes well and heals quickly..

Sorry to hear about the knee too.
For what it's worth, I've had my fair share of injuries as well, most of them as a kid or High Schooler, and some of them (sports injuries) might have happend as well if I lived elsewhere. I did have a broken bone in my hand heal crooked, but then my mother didn't believe it was broken because I continued playing my drums and playing baseball even though my hand was hurting like hell. So it was a little over a week after I broke my hand that I saw a doctor...
Mass medical care is pretty good - Florida's medical care, on the other hand, wasn't so good for either myself or my mother.

Take care of that knee, Clay. How is your elbow healing?
standog- 03-31-2008
Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
The Hospitals here are very good (I have been to almost all of them) compaired to alot of places I have lived.
Mike, The elbow is doing really good. I have almost all my range of motion. It will still be several month before I get to start strength threapy.
I go in tomorrow for an ortho appointment on my knee and hopefully MRI.

Well this explains why I am falling apart, I should leave the state, Mass is killing me.
The mental effects are long lasting.
Before College
Broke 3 fingers, forearm. Ate pavement, chipped teeth Injury to right knee
In college
Torn groin muscle Broke wrist Herniated disk (still hurts on and off)
After college injured left knee (still bothers me) injured mettatarcel left foot(dealing with currently)
So today my back hurts and my foot hurts and likely the knee will hurt too.
Been in pain the majority of the last 7 years and the disc will likely bother me into the future.
Pain Sucks!!! I'm only 27, I'm gonna be crippled by 40
You're not alone.
